Annika Waddell: Clinical Pilates and a Whole-Body Approach to Wellness

Meet Annika Waddell, PTA — Physiotherapy Assistant and certified mat and reformer Pilates instructor, who leads our 1:1 Clinical Pilates sessions.

Something Annika learned in 2026

"Through various continuing education courses, I have had the opportunity to explore topics such as strength training principles, cervical spine mechanics, and postural analysis in greater depth. One of my biggest takeaways has been developing an even greater appreciation for how interconnected the body truly is. This has reinforced my belief in taking a holistic, whole-body approach to health, rather than looking at individual concerns in isolation."

Something she's proud of

"I am proud of the commitment I have made to continually learning and growing, both personally and professionally. This year has challenged me to develop greater academic discipline, time management, and consistency while balancing my education and professional responsibilities. I value having a mindset that embraces curiosity and continued growth, and I am proud of the effort I put into expanding my knowledge and becoming a more well-rounded healthcare professional."

What she's looking forward to in 2027

"I am especially looking forward to completing my Diploma in Holistic Nutrition at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. Nutrition is an area I am incredibly passionate about, and I am excited to continue exploring how it can complement the work I currently do. My goal is to bring together clinical Pilates and holistic nutrition through a more integrated approach to wellness, recognizing that movement, nutrition, and lifestyle all contribute to our overall health and quality of life. I look forward to continuing to grow in this area and eventually incorporating this knowledge into the services I can offer."

Her goal for 2027

"A professional goal for 2027 is to continue expanding my education and practical knowledge in clinical Pilates. I am particularly interested in pursuing further training in pre- and postnatal Pilates, as I would love to deepen my understanding of how movement can support women through the different stages of pregnancy and postpartum recovery. I am excited to continue building my skill set so I can provide thoughtful, individualized movement experiences for a wider range of clients and needs."

What to know before your first session with Annika

"I want every client to feel welcomed, heard, and supported throughout their sessions. I take the time to prepare for each appointment and collaborate with the physiotherapists to help ensure your sessions are aligned with your individual needs and treatment goals. My approach is attentive, empathetic, and education-focused. I love helping clients better understand their bodies, build confidence in their movement, and feel empowered throughout their wellness journey. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable and confident every step of the way."
