Registered Physiotherapist Shannon Porter: Varsity Athlete, Physio, Movement Advocate

We're thrilled to welcome Shannon to the Flow Physio + Wellness team! Shannon brings a lifelong love of movement, sport and working with people to her practice, and we can't wait for you to meet her.

A Life in Motion

Sport has always played a big role in Shannon's life. She competed in gymnastics from a young age, and later ran varsity track and cross-country at McMaster University.

Like many athletes, Shannon has navigated her own injuries and rehabilitation. Those experiences sparked a fascination with the human body and its remarkable ability to adapt, recover and come back stronger. What started as curiosity about movement from an athlete's perspective grew into a passion for helping others improve their physical function and quality of life.

Education

Shannon earned her Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at McMaster University, then completed her Master of Physical Therapy at Western University.

She's especially passionate about the connection between movement, strength and overall health, and about using exercise and education to create meaningful, lasting change in people's lives.

Her Approach to Care

Shannon believes effective rehab starts with empathy, trust and open communication. She focuses on building real relationships with her patients and creating a space where you feel heard, understood and supported.

Her approach centres on active rehabilitation. Rather than just treating symptoms, she looks deeper to understand the factors contributing to your concerns. Through education and movement, she helps you understand how mobility, strength and behaviour change can shape your physical function and overall well-being.

More Than Getting Back to Baseline

Above all, Shannon wants to help you build confidence in your body, recognize your potential and take an active role in your recovery.

To her, rehab isn't only about returning to where you were before. It's about embracing movement and discovering what you're truly capable of.

Outside the Clinic

When she's not with patients, you'll find Shannon staying active: running, exploring trails, spending time outdoors and discovering new places.
