Shannon Porter, PT, MScPT
Registered Physiotherapist
Shannon’s passion for physiotherapy comes from a lifelong love of movement, sport and
working with people. From competing in gymnastics at a young age to later competing in varsity
track and cross-country at McMaster University, sport has always played an important role in her life.
Through her own athletic experiences, including navigating injury and rehabilitation, she
developed a fascination with the human body and its ability to adapt, recover and become
stronger. What began as an interest in understanding movement from an athletic perspective
grew into a passion for helping others improve their physical function and quality of life.
Shannon completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at McMaster University
before pursuing her Master of Physical Therapy at Western University. She is particularly
passionate about the relationship between movement, strength and overall health, and the
ability to use exercise and education to create meaningful, lasting changes in people’s lives.
As a physiotherapist, Shannon believes that effective rehabilitation begins with empathy, trust
and open communication. She values building meaningful relationships with her patients and
creating an environment where individuals feel heard, understood and supported. Her approach
emphasizes active rehabilitation, looking beyond symptoms to understand the contributing
factors behind an individual’s concerns. She is passionate about empowering people through
education and movement, helping them understand how mobility, strength and behaviour
change can influence their physical function and overall well-being.
Above all, Shannon hopes to help individuals build confidence in their bodies, recognize their
potential and feel empowered to take an active role in their recovery. She believes that
rehabilitation is not simply about returning to where you were before, but about helping people
embrace movement and discover what they are capable of.
Outside of the clinic, Shannon enjoys staying active, running, exploring trails, spending time
outside and discovering new places.
