Why did you want to become a chiropractor? Tell us about yourself and your journey to this point.

Dr. Courtney Babut playing NCAA soccer during University.

While my decision to become a chiropractor came later on in life, I always knew that I wanted to be in healthcare. The journey started when I had my 1st knee surgery in high school and the challenges that followed. I ended up having a total of 5 knee surgeries between 2010 and 2022. Just when I thought I was back on my feet doing the things I love, I fell right back to square one for yet another recovery. It was the physical therapists that I worked with that made my comeback possible. I knew I wanted to be able to offer that support for others one day - and I’m lucky enough to do that now as a Doctor of Chiropractic!

What are 3 words that you would use to describe your approach to chiropractic care?

Progressive. Functional. Compassionate.

What is your favourite exercise?

The barbell snatch! It’s a movement that I found really difficult at first so in my competitive nature, I went on a mission to master it. It challenges my mobility and full body strength.

What is your favourite stretch?

Child’s pose because it encourages me to slow down and focus on my breath. It also feels good for my low back!

What is your biggest success as a Chiropractor?

I feel successful as a chiropractor every day that patients choose me to be part of their health care team.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to reconnect with family, friends and nature. Whether it’s spending the weekend at the cottage, or checking out hiking and biking trails in the area.

What’s been your favourite place to travel?

My favourite place to travel was Thailand because of the sunshine, beaches, culture, temples, and amazing street food!

What is a book or podcast you would recommend and why?

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie - this book has shaped the way I connect and communicate with people.

Armchair Expert is my favourite podcast because I love hearing people’s stories and learning from them in both struggle and triumph.
