FAQ with Our Holistic Nutritionist, Emilia London
Meet Emilia London
Emilia is a Holistic Nutritionist who uses evidence-based practices to support whole-body health. She provides clear, personalized guidance that helps clients understand how nutrition, lifestyle, and environment work together to impact well-being. Her root-cause approach looks beyond symptoms to create lasting change through tailored nutrition protocols.
Emilia’s journey began during university while completing her degree in Human Health Science. During her undergrad, she faced persistent digestive issues and unexplained food sensitivities. Working with a Holistic Nutritionist transformed her health—and inspired her to help others do the same. After completing her undergraduate degree with highest distinction, she then attended the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where she graduated at the top of her class.
Today, Emilia focuses on nutrition related to women's health, offering support through all life stages—from fertility and pregnancy to PCOS, perimenopause, and postpartum recovery. Her compassionate, sustainable approach helps women feel empowered and confident in their bodies. When not at the clinic, you can find Emilia spending time with her husband and daughter outdoors or in the kitchen trying out a new recipe.
What does a typical initial assessment look like? And what do nutritional counselling appointments include?
The Initial Assessment is a comprehensive process where I take time to understand your health history, lifestyle, symptoms, and goals. We review recent blood work, discuss any functional lab testing that may be helpful, and explore symptomatology. We also dive into lifestyle factors, environmental exposures, and stress levels, all of which influence your body’s relationship with food. From there, I create a personalized nutrition protocol tailored specifically to your needs—never a one-size-fits-all plan. It will be holistic in understanding and scope, consisting of changes to diet, exercise, lifestyle, mental health support and supplementation. We go over this in a Plan Delivery Appointment, walking through your unique Road Map and breaking it down into smaller, manageable action steps. The goal is for you to feel clear, empowered, and confident about the path forward. You’ll leave with concrete steps to begin before our next Follow-Up, which are scheduled every two weeks for the first month or two to build momentum and accountability. After that, we shift to monthly check-ins where we assess progress, adjust your plan, and continue moving toward your goals.

How long does someone work with a Holistic Nutritionist?
It varies based on your needs and goals. The shortest amount of time is 1 month, in which I work with individuals to get them started on the right foot. Others, with more specific goals and comprehensive plans usually work with me for 6 - 8 months. I do still have clients who come back for follow-ups a few times a year to check-in, stay on track and receive help in any new areas of concern.
Is nutritional counselling covered by insurance?
It depends on your insurance company and plan. There are many insurance companies that can help pay for nutritional counselling. These include: Equitable Life, Manulife, iA Financial Group, GreenShield Canada, ClaimSecure Inc. or Blue Cross Alberta coverage. As well, Sunlife now offers some employers a Personal Spending Account within which nutrition counseling is covered. However, it is best that you call and check that "nutritional counselling" services from a Natural Nutrition - Clinical Practitioner (NNCP) and/or Certified Nutrition Practitioner (CNP) are included in your coverage. Always look for the key phrase "nutrition" or "nutritional counseling" services. You may also need my certification number, which I can provide upon request.
